It's hard to believe that in about two weeks I'll be halfway through my language school. Now don't misunderstand me. This does not mean that I'm halfway fluent. At graduation in April I will not be fluent in Spanish, but I will be able to speak Spanish well enough to have a foot into the Latin American world.
This first half has been good and the Lord has taught me much. However, I think I've learned more about myself than I've learned Spanish.
- By living in a culture that is much more laid back I've seen just how impatient I am.
- By being around people who are so hospitable and for the most part very caring, I've seen how selfish and busy I am.
- By being stressed and stretched with all that comes with living in a new culture and learning a new language I've seen just how much I need the Lord to help me everyday.
- By living totally dependent on the gifts of other people I've learned to be so much more thankful every time we sit down to eat a meal.
- By having so many brothers and sisters in Christ around me at language school who are there when I'm struggling I've learned afresh the importance of the body of Christ functioning the way it is supposed to. Because when you don't have your immediate family around, your brothers and sisters in Christ become just that.
Thank you to all of you who by your prayers and gifts have helped us get half way. We love and miss you.
