Last Day of the Conference
We went out with a bang today. John Piper's last message was about the fact that we can't please God if we don't go to Him for our gladness. Also, he unpacked the truth that God being glorified and me receiving pleasure are not at odds with each other. We often think that following God now means that I have to deny myself things that please me. When the reality is this: those things that carnally please me aren't the greatest pleasures that exist. The greatest thing God can do for me is to free me from wanting to be pleased by those things so I can truly love and enjoy the greatest pleasure; knowing and loving and savoring Jesus Christ.
