There is a Christian bookstore here in San Jose called Casa de La Biblia (House of the Bible). I went for the sole purpose of buying some books for my friend Julio, but while I was there I also found The Pilgrim's Progress illustrated version for children. It's in Spanish of course, so I've done my best to read it to Samuel. Thank the Lord for the pictures though. When I can't quite get the meaning I fill in by explaining the pictures. Thankfully, we have this same version in English back in AL.
Needless to say, Samuel can't get enough of it. He's been enchanted by the story of Christian making his way to the Celestial City ever since I began telling it to him about 3 months ago. Now we have the book here with us in Costa Rica. You can see from the photos that Iva & Levi also enjoy looking at the pictures.
Samuel has been taking it to bed at night and begging me to tell him a little more of the story (it's 254 pages long). However, this morning after breakfast he asked, "Daddy, will you tell me more about Christian?" How can you say no to that?
So, what a blessing it has been to pass down to my children one of the greatest Christian allegories of history. Lord willing the Holy Spirit will use the truths of this book coupled with the teachings of Scripture to make little pilgrims also on their way to the Celestial City. That is my prayer.
I am sure that any child would love this book. It has illustrations on each page and is full of biblical truths that can only benefit the little ears hearing this narrative (and the grown up ears too). Click on the English version or excerpt below to purchase your own copy. Bless your children with this timeless Christian classic which is also the second highest selling book of all time.
