We just got finished passing out little bags of cookies around our neighborhood. We included a homemade Christmas card that has a pic. of our family and the following note:
We give you these gifts to show you that we care about you, but also to show you that God cares for you too.
He gave the greatest gift of all two thousand years ago when He sent His Son Jesus into the world. Jesus tells us why He came; "to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10).
Our gifts are also to point you to another gift that only Jesus can give you, God's forgiveness. We pray that you will remember Christ this Christmas. And if you have not come to Him by repentance from sin and believing that He was punished in your place when He died, we hope and pray that you will.
Merry Christmas!
For some we also included a book or a New Testament. Because we did this I was able to sit down and talk to a young man about the Lord. He listened attentively and thanked me. Get out in your town and be creative. Our Christian holidays afford us these wonderful opportunities to give gifts of love. Include gospel tracts or books and be a presence for the Lord in their lives. Also, visit the businesses you regularly use. That's another great way to build a relationship. You may be the only one reaching out to many of these people.
Life's value is not it's duration, but it's donation - not how long we live, but how fully and how well.
