I haven't blogged in a long time but this one will make up for it.
We had guest speakers at church today. Herman and Eunice Cob work with Keystone Ministries here in Belize. Bob met them recently and invited them to speak this morning. They specialize in discipleship and along with teaching us more about biblical discipleship they taught about what genuine belief really looks like in the life of the believer.
Their message was very clear, convicting, & Christ-centered. What was really special is that the Cobs speak perfect Spanish, so for our group that was great. I think it really helped that our church heard these truths so clearly and in their mother tongue.
What happened in response was incredible to say the least. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A RESPONSE.
Many people went to the front for prayer. One woman, through tears, openly apologized and asked for forgiveness for a recent situation. After that time of prayer and confession the group of women that help lead worship went up to say that they want to do better in leading worship and also to asked forgiveness. They were realizing that their lives needed to reflect what they sing.
After they sat down pastor gave an invitation and seven people came forward to receive Christ. The service just kept going and going but no one minded because the Lord was moving among us. One young man, whom Bob later told me has been hard as stone, was among those who came forward.
And if that wasn't enough, right before supper I went over to help out a student of mine and ended up talking with her son (12 yrs.) for over an hour on the tailgate of their truck. He told me he wanted to become a Christian and so we talked and prayed together. I was reminded of the verse that says the fields are white unto harvest. That is so true.
What a day. Now I'll have the privilege of hopefully discipling a few of them. Pray for these new converts please. Wow!
