5 Reasons Not To Buy An iPad

I know that everyone and their mama is going crazy over the new iPad. I want to post this, not as an attack against iPad (I've never even used one), but to focus our thinking on eternal realities. Because I know that a lot of my Christian brothers and sisters in the States, who are otherwise living upright and holy lives for the Lord, can easily get caught up in consumerism.

It's easy to want the latest technical advances, especially when Apple puts out really cool stuff. I'm blogging right now from my Macbook. But I want you to imagine for just a moment how we all might make a difference for the Kingdom of God if we didn't buy an iPad, which none of us really need anyway. The truth is you don't really need it.

The new iPad runs between $499 and $829. Imagine if every born again Christian in America who is currently in the market for an iPad gave that $500 to help spread the gospel instead of buying one. How much do you think would be at the disposal of those already needy ministries to help them spread the truth? $100,000? $500,000? $1,000,000?

I want to give you 5 reasons not to buy an iPad:

1. About 340 million people still do not have the Bible in their own language. You can help change that, click here.

2. 41% of the world's population is still unreached with the gospel. That's 2.77 billion people. You can help change that, click here.

3 There are roughly 80 million orphans in India alone, with and estimated 150-200 million worldwide. You can help them, click here.

4. There are 52 restricted and hostile nations where Christians still suffer persecution and martyrdom for their faith. You can help them, click here.

5. And lastly, there are roughly 2 million untrained pastors worldwide. You can help them, click here.

(I don't hate iPads, I just chose it because it's the latest hot item. This could include any of the latest toys that none of us really need anyway.)
