Growth

It's always encouraging when I see growth in my students. This is Angelina. One Friday during class she said something that made me so happy. "Lately I find myself more concerned about other people's salvation," she said, "where I used to just be concerned about myself knowing God." Wow! Obviously, I was excited to hear this. One evidence of real growth in Christ is that we naturally want others to come to know Him too. And speaking of Christ she also said something else.

She told me that she never knew that Jesus existed before He was born. Theologically, the term is the pre-incarnate Christ (before He was in the flesh). Around Christmas time she was talking to her friends about Jesus and explaining the fact that Christ has always existed, but simply put on flesh when He was born of Mary. I was happy to hear that she was learning. Well, until we're accurately taught we just don't know, right?

It's interesting having Angelina as a student. She's old enough to be my mother but is the youngest Christian in our bunch. I love teaching her because it's like working with a blank slate. I also love seeing her grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
