This was a big one for my grandfather (Gran Gran). He turned 80 on Aug 7th. We planned a surprise party and actually surprised him! Someone usually ends up giving it away on accident when you have this many people involved, but not this time. He was totally shocked.
You make a lot of friends in 80 years so many of his old friends, whom I had never met, showed up.
It was an old timey themed party so there were root beer floats, a hula hoop competition, bobbing for apples, plus lots of 40's, 50's, and 60's songs playing.
We also put together a little movie, which I will show if YouTube lets me upload it (it has copyrighted music playing in the background and YouTube is getting touchy about that). Everyone loved it because it had lots of old pics of my grandparents.
I did get one pic from the party with my iPod of them holding my niece in front of the cake my sister made.
My grandmother also had a birthday on Aug. 24th. We sent her some flowers that she said made her day. Iva picked her out some gerber daisies too.
In going through all those old pics to make the movie I saw one I'd never seen before. It ended up being my favorite. Here it is below. Don't they look like two actors or something? Well, they look great to me and I'm so thankful for them for many reasons, not to mention that without them there's no me, or my mom, or my children. These guys are pretty important, and pretty great too.
Happy Birthday Grandmother and Gran Gran. We love you both very much!
