10 Years for the Farleys

We recently threw a surprise party for the Farleys to celebrate their 10th year in Belize. August of 1999 they arrived in Belize with little money and not knowing exactly what the Lord wanted them to do. They only knew He wanted them here. A book could be written telling of all the Lord has done in and threw them since there arrival. But let this poem I wrote for the occation sum it up for you.

(On a side note, the poem's last phrase is Creole and means Christ died for all of us.)

 

Ten years ago in August of 1999,

A plane touched down with a package of special kind.

What was this package and from what land?

It was actually four people and called the Farley fam.

 

Let me tell you of this family and I'll start with it's leader,

His name is Bob, a husband, daddy, and preacher.

He blessed us with his appearance on April forth,

Born many years ago during the days of dinosaurs.

But since we know that with age comes wisdom,

We must have before us a second Solomon.

And on top of being wise Bob's funny, giving, and helpful,

Also a man whom God's made very disciplined and prayerful.

But of all these things his best quality I haven't told ya,

He got it July 17^th, 1982 his wife Rhonda.

 

We celebrate her birth on the 3^rd of February,

She's kind, patient, a real missionary.

She followed Bob here ten years ago,

With two girls in tow, and no place to go.

But she's remained ever vigilant, that you'll have to give her,

I've even seen her washing clothes in the river.

One of her greatest accomplishments and to the family a real gift,

Let me next tell you about their first daughter Meredith.

 

In 1989 on October the 4^th,

Was born to Bob and Rhonda this girl of great worth.

From Texas and then to Alaska to freeze,

This smart, super reader's next stop was Belize.

When she first arrived at only nine years old,

She quickly fit in learning how to speak Creole.

From Acres of Love, to Boom Creek, and many more miles,

She and her sister Hannah are known for their beautiful smiles.

 

And speaking of Hannah she's last on our list,

This fun loving girl was born August 31^st.

I've heard she's into everything and will go anywhere.

She's got the cutest freckles and her skin is fair,

As compared to her friends but she doesn't care.

Just take her to McDonalds by car, boat, or air,

And you'll have a best friend with ice cream to share.

 

So after ten years what can we say?

The Farley fam. has come a long way.

Not only spiritually but also geographically,

To bring the good new that Christ died fa' all o' we.
